Lake View Hillside Retaining Wall
A homeowner had an incredible view of their lake, but unfortunately, they didn’t have much flat area to sit down and enjoy their amazing view. So GNG excavated into the hillside, creating the perfect place to relax and enjoy the view!
1: This rocky hillside overlooking a pretty lake was not very useful for the homeowner, who wished to have a larger flat space to use as a lakeview patio.
2: GNG Underground excavated into the hillside, removing rocks and soil to create a flat space for the future patio. A retaining wall would be necessary to hold back the up-hill side of the rocky slope.
3: The final concrete retaining wall created a flat area halfway up the hillside, serving as a hillside patio. The built-in lighting not only made the space safer at night, it set a nice mood for enjoying the lake view.
4: A view from the lake-level, looking up at the large concrete patio and retaining wall halfway up the hillside. The original (slippery) concrete path can be seen on the right. To make it safer to get up and down, GNG Underground cast a run of concrete steps between the patio and the shore.
